300 is a 2007 film adaptation of the graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller, itself partly inspired by another film, The 300 Spartans, and is a highly stylized account of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The film is directed by Zack Snyder with Frank Miller attached as an executive producer and consultant, and was shot mostly with bluescreen to duplicate the imagery of the original comic book.
Spartan King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fight to the last man against Persian King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of more than one million soldiers, while in Sparta, Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) attempts to rally support for her husband. The story is framed by a voice-over narrative by the Spartan soldier Dilios (David Wenham). Through this narrative technique, all manner of fantastical creatures are introduced, placing 300 within the genre of historical fantasy.
300 was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters in America on March 9, 2007. The film broke box office records, although critics were divided over its look and style. Some acclaimed it as an original achievement, while others accused it of favoring visuals over characterization. Controversy arose over its depiction of the ancient Persians as barbaric, demonic hordes, and the Persian King Xerxes as androgynous.
A group of Persian messengers arrive at Sparta, demanding Sparta's submission to King Xerxes. Outraged and offended at their behavior, King Leonidas and his guards throw the messengers into a pit, resolving to face the Persians. Leonidas then visits the Oracle, explaining his plan of war with the Persians and offers a customary payment in gold. The priests of the Oracle, having been bribed by Xerxes, interpret her message to mean that Sparta should not go to war, so as to not interrupt the sacred Carneian festival.

Despite this, Leonidas gathers 300 of his best soldiers to fight the Persians, selecting only those who have already sired male children. As they march North, they are joined by a group of Arcadians and other Greeks. Arriving at the narrow cliffs of Thermopylae (referred to as the "Hot Gates"), in sight of the Persian army, they build a wall to halt the Persians' advance. Ephialtes, a hunchbacked Spartan whose parents had fled to save him from customary infanticide, approaches Leonidas, requesting to redeem his father's name in battle, and warning him about a secret goat path that the Persians could use to surround them. Leonidas turns him away as his inability to properly hold the shield would create a weak spot in the phalanx.
Before the battle starts, the Persians ask that the 300 drop their arms. Leonidas responds; "Persians! Come and take them!" The Spartans use the phalanx formation, and hand to hand combat, to fight off numerous waves of attackers, including Xerxes's elite guard, the Immortals. The 300 defend their position while suffering relatively few losses. Xerxes, impressed, personally approaches Leonidas and promises him wealth and power in exchange for his surrender. The Spartan king declines, saying that he will instead make the "God King" bleed. Shortly thereafter, an embittered Ephialtes reveals the location of the goat path to Xerxes, having been promised a lucrative and powerful position in the Persian Empire.
Back in Sparta, Queen Gorgo, upon the advice of a councilman, attempts to enlist the influential Theron to help her persuade the Spartan council to send reinforcements to Leonidas. Theron agrees to help, but demands that Gorgo submit sexually to him; Gorgo reluctantly assents. Meanwhile, the Greeks realize that Ephialtes has betrayed them, and the Arcadians decide to retreat in the face of certain death. The Spartans refuse to follow, respecting their laws. Leonidas orders only one man, Dilios, to retreat and use his rhetorical skills to tell the story of the 300 to the Spartan people, ensuring that they be remembered. Dilios reluctantly leaves with the Arcadians. At Sparta, Queen Gorgo appears in front of the council, but is not supported by Theron, who furthermore accuses her of adultery. The Queen, enraged at this betrayal, snatches a sword from a nearby soldier and kills Theron. Persian coins fall from his purse, and the Council denounces him as a traitor and unites against Persia.
At Thermopylae, the Persians have surrounded the 300 on all sides. Xerxes's spokesman demands their surrender, saying that Leonidas may keep his title as King of Sparta and become warlord of all Greece, answerable only to Xerxes. In defiance, Leonidas throws his spear at Xerxes, cutting his cheek, delivering on his promise to "make the 'God King' bleed." Shaken at the reminder of his own mortality, the God King orders his archers to fire. The remaining Spartans are killed in the hail of arrows, with Leonidas dying last. Dilios eventually returns to Sparta and inspires the council with the bravery of the 300.
Dilios finishes his tale of the 300 on a new battlefield surrounded by raptly listening soldiers. He concludes that the Persian army, who defeated a mere 300 Spartans a year earlier with great difficulty, must now be terrified to face 10,000 Spartans and 30,000 Greeks from the other city-states. The roused Greek host heads off to fight the Persian army, beginning the Battle of Plataea.

Jacob Petersen manages an Indian orphanage. With a small staff, he works as hard as he can to keep the orphanage afloat. The project has been in danger of collapse for eight years and now faces bankruptcy. A Danish corporation offers a substantial donation to maintain the orphanage, but Jacob is told that he must return to Denmark (where he grew up) to receive the funds. Apparently the CEO of the corporation wishes to shake Jacob\'s hand.
Jacob travels to Copenhagen and checks into a luxurious suite at a five-star hotel, paid for by the corporation: quite a contrast from his living conditions in India.
When Jacob meets with Jørgen (the CEO of the corporation), Jørgen says he is still considering which project to fund. This surprises Jacob, who had understood that the decision was already made.
Since Jørgen\'s daughter Anna is to marry on the next day, he invites Jacob to the wedding. Coincidentally, Jacob meets his former girlfriend Helene there. She was the love of his life and went to India with him, but when he was unfaithful with her best friend, she left him and went back to Denmark. She is now the wife of Jørgen.
During Anna\'s speech at the marriage festivities, Jacob learns she is not the biological daughter of Jørgen. His suspicion that she might be his is confirmed by Helene the next day. Jacob is angry to have learned of his daughter only after two decades. Helene claims that they had tried to track him down in India but were unsuccessful. She is compelled to tell Anna of Jacob now; the two meet and get along rather well.
Despite all these issues, Jacob does meet Jørgen again over the funding of his Indian orphanage. Jørgen offers to create a foundation in Jacob\'s and Anna\'s name and fund it with a large sum of money. One of the conditions of the contract, however, would be that Jacob move to Denmark. Jacob initially finds himself unable to comply, because back in India waits eight-year-old Pramod, whom he has been raising since birth. He also does not want to be bought by Jørgen. When Jacob storms out, Jørgen explains to him his real motivation: Jørgen is terminally ill and will soon die. He has brought Jacob to Denmark so he can care for Anna, Helene and Jørgen\'s little twin sons. Jacob is so angered, however, that he hastily leaves for his hotel room. When Anna turns up there crying her eyes out because her newlywed has been unfaithful, Jacob realizes that he should be there for his daughter and that he can help tens of thousands of Indian orphans that way, as well. He signs the contract with Jørgen.
Jørgen dies. On Jacob\'s next visit to India, construction work at the orphanage is well under way. Jacob asks Pramod whether he would like to come to Denmark with him, but partly because Jacob used to rail against rich people, Pramod decides to stay in his home country.

Vivian\'s family was killed in America when she was a young girl, after which she moved to Romania to live with her aunt Astrid. Astrid is a former mate of the pack\'s leader, Gabriel, and together they have a son named Rafe. According to pack law, the leader chooses a new mate every seven years. The choosing is a few months away and Gabriel wants Vivian as his mate, despite her reluctance. This is because of a prophecy which states that a female loup-garou will lead all loup-garou into the age of hope. Gabriel thinks this wolf will be Vivian, and for this reason he wants to marry her.
While sitting in a church one night (having broken into it) she meets a human man, Aiden, who is an artist (who broke into the church to examine the stained glass art in it) researching the legend of the loup-garou. Aiden is instantly smitten and pursues her for several days before she finally agrees to start seeing him. They meet in secret and fall in love. They are soon discovered by Vivian\'s cousin Rafe and his four friends, who grew up with Vivian; throughout the movie Rafe and his friends are referred to as the Five. After the Five tell Gabriel about the relationship, he orders Rafe to do whatever is necessary to get Aiden out of the city- even if it means killing Aiden.
Rafe sends Aiden a note, pretending it is from Vivian and asking him to meet her in a chapel outside the city. After Rafe threatens him, Aiden throws him into the table where he cuts himself. Rafe\'s spilling of blood forces his eyes to turn yellow and reveal his true nature. He attempts to kill Aiden. Silver is fatal to the loup-garou and can poison them when they are exposed to it. Aiden uses his silver necklace- shaped like a pentagram- to kill Rafe.
Gabriel and Astrid are devastated at the death of their son, and Aiden is caught by the other loup-garoux. Every month at full moon, the pack leads a hunt in the forests. The human prey is chosen because they are a danger to the pack or because they\'ve offended one of its members. If the human manages to cross the river in the forest, they\'re allowed to live, but no one has ever managed to reach the river. Aiden is chosen to be that month\'s prey and he runs for his life. Fortunately, he\'d stolen a silver knife from a restaurant earlier, and when two wolves corner him he is able to kill them. He reaches the river and crosses, but Gabriel is furious and breaks his own law, he follows Aiden and attacks. Vivian jumps in and she and Gabriel fight in their wolf forms; she wins and throws him into the river. Aiden attacks her, not recognizing her in her wolf skin, and stabs her with the knife. When she reveals who she is, he is stricken with guilt and agrees to help her.
They flee to a building where films were once processed, because it is riddled with silver dust the loup-garou won\'t find them. Astrid, however, is smart enough to realize where Vivian went and corners them with a gun. Vivian pleads for Aiden\'s life, reminding Astrid of how important it is to be with someone you love, and Astrid (who is in love with Gabriel even though he is no longer her mate) lets them go. They get an antidote for Vivian by threatening a pharmacist, but the man manages to alert the pack to their presence and Vivian is captured.
In the wolves\' territory, Gabriel orders one of the Five- now the Four, because Rafe is dead- to kill Vivian, but Aiden jumps in with a gun full of silver bullets and a massive fight starts. During the shooting, several kegs of alcohol empty onto the floor and Aiden sets the building on fire. Vivian aims a gun at Gabriel, but he blackmails her by telling her she is low enough to try to kill one of her own kind. Aiden pleads with Vivian to shoot Gabriel, to which she replies, \
